What to look for in a gaming computer? As a college student, I am looking for an affordable gaming desktop PC. From what I have researched the graphics card is key but I want to invest in a quality product. I would like to be able to run games such as World of Warcraft and Smite which require some pretty high end graphics as well as storage and CPU. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I should look for affordable gaming desktops, what brand to look into, and what features I should consider? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thank you!

What kind of of computer can handle game/simulation design? I'll be starting an online college soon that teaches game, simulation & AI programing, design & production. My current computer can't handle that kind of media & I need one that can. I'd like the computer to be able to run the programs I'll be taught to use to create my own little games here & there just for my own benefit (& my portfolios). But I want to also be able to run a few games that I enjoy playing (like the sims/sims2, tycoon games & civ games. I'm not real keen on the idea of having Vista or a Dell, I've had really bad luck with dells. But I'm not sure whether to go with a desktop (which brand's pkg?, or build by...?) & it's ease to upgrade, or a laptop (which brands pkg?) it's versitile & usable anywhere I want it (I'm disabled - sometimes go back to bed for heating pads on my back & joints). I'd appreciate thoughts & suggestions, we are on a budget so please keep that in mind. Thanks! I wanted to mention I've considered an Apple, but all my games are PC and I don't know that they'll work on an Apple computer - I can't afford to rebuy my games and programs on Apple so unless they will work on a Mac, I need to stick with a PC. What are the top gaming laptops currently on the market and which one would you recommend? What type of motherboard and Ram should i get for the AMD A10-5800K Trinity? Alright I am currently in the middle of building a AMD gaming desktop and I have hit a wall I have no idea what motherboard to get with the AMD A10-5800K Trinity I'll put the full specs of the processor below. I need help with buying/building a gaming desktop.? Hello, I am your average 19 year old video game fan, except unlike most I have literally helpless with computers. I know how to turn it on, launch my games, and from then on I'm king of the Hill. Anything other than the most basic tasks leaves me dazzled. I have no idea how computers work or what makes them work, it's never something that has interested me. However video-games are a personnal passion and I've recently decided to invest in a good gaming desktop. I was doing fine on my old computer but I've recently moved from france and my dad said it wouldn't work here for some reason (again, electronics :S.) My question (or more accurately, request) is what should I do in order to acquire a good PC. I have lurked quite a bit on the internet, and I've quickly turned away from my original idea of purchasing an Alienware Laptop/Desktop since everyone seems to agree that they're terribly overpriced (and that's not even including the warranty, which would be a must in my case.) I don't know of any other gaming-pc makers, but my guess would be that making a custom computer would still be lots cheaper. Brand new desktop gaming machine(self built), crashing almost every game I play? I've tried Bioshock, Oblivion, Warhammer Online, and Mass Effect. The only game that stays running is Oblivion. They all look beautiful while they play etc. then just crash straight to the desktop out of no where. Vista brings up no error messages or anything of the sort. I have the most up to date Nvidia drivers etc. and can't think of what else to try. Might DirectX10 have any relationship? Specs: MoBo: Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P CPU: Intel Q9550 Quad Core GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 260 216Core RAM: 8gigs of G-Skill 1066 As far as I can tell Vista has nothing to do with it. It's also an OEM copy so not sure how many re installs I'm going to be able to get away with hehe. AHHH yes forgot the PSU, yup it's more than adequate. 650watt. Another bit, the reason I build my computers custom is because I pay 900 or so dollars for a PC that is 2x better than the store bought 900dollar one... and doesn't come with a bunch of PoS applications and software that I don't give a rat's ass about. Norton's among them. Absolutely hate that piece of crap.
Mild gaming desktop PC under 1k good brand/quality? I've had a macbook for a while, and while I adore it, sometimes the weak graphics card, RAM, HD space, and tiny screen doesn't do it for me, especially when I'm using Photoshop or Flash or playing games. What are the best brand(s) for desktop/laptop gaming? I'm just wondering what are the best built, and quality made laptops and desktops for high end gaming? I've been to sites like ibuypower and cyberpowerpc but they just seem kind of unreliable and the only case I liked was a corsair brand because it was quality made out of steel and aluminum. Yeah, don't get me wrong the case's from coolermax and aztec with all the led's looked cool but they just seemed plasticy and cheaply made. I believe you get what you pay for and the only quality laptops i've found are from alienware which look pretty interesting, especially the M17xR3 model but I haven't found any good quality PC chassis besides from corsair and I haven't found any good quality gaming laptops except from alienware so can anyone throw a few top of the line brands out there for me so I know where to look? Just adding one more time this is purely for gaming purposes pretty much.

Alienware and gaming desktop/laptop help with around $800-$1000? Hey guys, long story short, im looking for a gaming desktop or laptop. I chacked out alienware and it looks pretty badass. but the thing with alienware is that it seems to be a bit pricey. i just want to know if the reliability and quality of these machines are worth the cash. I don't want to pay over 1000 dollars, so if I could get what brand would be good, and what processor, memory, hard drive, and everything else that goes with a good computer. Right now I'm looking at Hp's, but if there are more reliable brands let me know.
